Dollarama under $5 Buck Finds

A quick stop into my local Dollarama last week resulted in  a few really cool finds.

First up,  the sun umbrella ground stake.  I've had one for years and it is extremely handy at the beach,  on grass or sand.  You screw the stake into the ground by nearly a foot with the handles that swivel outwards,  then your beach umbrella into that.  Doesn't budge, even on the windy days. Works great for wooden post signs too! I paid $16 for mine years ago,  and they're only $3 at the dollar store!

Next,  the chalkboard paint Mason jars with lids,  for $1.25. How cute are these for that price.  Nuff said.

Lastly,  the entire selection of Green Works cleaning solutions.  I've used these products for a few years purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart for much more than the $3 Dollarama is selling them for.  I'm a fan of the all purpose spray and the bathroom cleaner!

Happy Shopping.

Summer is coming: Patio Furniture

Summer is just around the corner.

Are you looking for a new conversation set or sectional?

Big Box Outlet (formerly MTF) has a few options that are good in value and reasonable in cost.
Check in store to see the demo models for comfort,  size and colours,  you will be surprised at the choices available.

I received the Lilloet set as a gift from my family earlier in the spring. It has a solid aluminum frame (very light weight) with charcoal cushions. And is the perfect compact size for our back deck.  It comes in taupe and charcoal (see photos). This set is $599.95 and occasionally Big Box will have promotions to further reduce the cost of this set and others.

Aritzia Warehouse Sale part 2

As previously posted by Lofty Goods, the Aritzia Warehouse Sale is here in South Surrey and will continue straight into the new year. (Staff say it will be closed Jan 31 2015)

New items are being set out daily and right now,  all of their premium denim jeans are priced at a flat price of $29.99!

Brands that I saw this week are as follows: jbrand FidelityCitizens of HumanityCurrent ElliottRag & Bone and more! All the jeans are stacked and sorted by size and wash/colour. I picked up a black current elliott  pair with a leather coating, a current elliott dark blue skinny stretch pair and a pair of super dark fidelity skinny jeans.

These lines of premium denim usually cost upwards of $150-300 a pair.

Did you have jeans on your Christmas wishlist?

Staff said that they will continue at this price until told otherwise,  but go and treat yourself to a pair while we are confident of price points.

Aritzia Warehouse Sale Surrey

From October 7 to October 31, Aritzia is having a Warehouse Sale at the Morgan Crossing shopping centre in South Surrey (unit #110)

***see bottom for updates to post

Located at the corner of Croydon Drive and Main St, it's a smaller venue, but promises to be filled with new stock on a daily basis.  We parked at the old Best Buy lot (Restoration Hardware's future home) and walked across to the shop.  (The Main Street parking spots say 1hr).

Prices are per usual, blocked by category.  All jeans (rag & bone, COH, etc.) are $49.99 or less, sweaters are $29.99, shirts are $39.99, blazers start at $49.99.

Today's finds...a Community Lexis Romper $39.99 (reg.$125), Wilfred Free Buffalo Check Tunic $39.99 (reg.$95), rag & bone skinny jeans $49.99 (reg.$188), Talula Lenox Sweater $29.99 (reg.$75)

People have been wondering about their more popular items.  There were a limited number of Trooper jackets (navy, camo) in smaller sizes, as well as a few TNA 'cowichan' sweaters.

The fellow that opened the doors today said to "check back often."  New merchandise arrives daily...3 more shipments are expected today even.  There were also scads of unopened boxes still on the floor this morning.  I guess with it going until Oct.31st, more than one visit may actually happen!!

Update: (Oct. 20, 2014)
Seeing how I only live a 10 minute drive from the sale, I've actually popped back in three times since my initial visit.  DISAPPOINTED each and every time!!  I went back on day 2 at store opening (figuring new stuff would for sure be added, and the store would be tidy)... There were a few things added, but nothing worth giving a second look.  Walked out with a black boyfriend blazer that I regretted not purchasing for myself the previous day.

My subsequent visits have been weekly, including today.  I popped in after lunch time.  The store was dead.  I could almost hear crickets chirping.  New additions in the way of samples, brands that are not normally carried in store (perhaps samples from suppliers?), prototypes, damaged clothing, mismatched accessories, #yougetthepicture.  I'm wondering when (or if) actual worthwhile merchandise will be added!?  It's supposed to go on for another 11 days.  If these last visits were any indication, I'd say save your time and shop elsewhere.  Definitely do not waste gas coming from anywhere over a bridge solely for this sale, you'll be really disappointed.  I won't make an effort to stop by 'just' for this...however, I've been known to frequent Winners and H&M (tee-hee), so am in the area often.

Update: (November 24, 2014)
The sale was extended into November...until the end of the month (or so I've been told).  I went back in on Friday afternoon (Nov. 21) and there were a few more items of note.  I spied some of the Wilfred Rousseau cardigans that had gone on sale online on Thanksgiving...they had few of the same ones at the Warehouse sale listed for $59.99.

These TNA wool zip sweaters caught my eye.  Cute, but a little short for my taste.

Also, they received a shipment of Wilfred Parkas in size Medium (only)...$199.99.  There were a few at the front of the store, as well as a rolling rack full of them near the entrance to the fitting room.

Bath & Body Works New Bottle Design

If you're a fan of the hand soap collection at Bath & Body Works, you may have noticed that they launched a new bottle shape in Spring 2014.

The "Deep Cleansing Hand Soaps" and "Gentle Foaming Hand Soaps" now come in a new bottle: it's shorter and wider than the old design, and slightly larger in overall volume than the previous bottle design.  They've also changed the formulas and eliminated the anti-bacterial element to the hand soaps, which I am happy about.  (Read more about why it might be good to avoid anti-bacterial soaps)

If you're like us, you might have a metal slip-cover / soap sleeve for the (now discontinued) "old" bottle shape.  I was looking at buying a new one, since there are so many more options...they have silver, bronze, antique, etc options for the new sleeves, but I didn't really want to spend $5.50 for a new cover.  Well, don't fret!   A friendly tip I learned this week with regards to the new bottle designs at Bath and Body Works...they will gladly exchange your old bottle sleeve for a new one at no cost!  This was told to me by an employee at the Willowbrook Mall (Langley, BC) location, and said that all of the locations will honour this policy.  She also recommended leaving your old sleeve in your car for when you next happen to pop into a Bath & Body Works, that way you'll be prepared!  A great tip!

*****UPDATE: As of Fall 2014, Bath & Body Works Canada will now only be giving a 30% off discount towards the purchase of a new soap cover/sleeve when you bring in your older style sleeve.  I was a little dismayed by this (November 24, 2014) when I finally brought in my own sleeve to exchange it for a new one.  They just never seemed to have silver ones in stock, until the holidays arrived!  Oh well!  Hope you got yours while it lasted!
